I too will be reviewing this book. I have had conversations with one of the authors about the book in the past & have been eagerly anticipating its release.

It is quite normal for books on new technologies to be released before the technologies themselves are finalised. Look how many books there are about PHP 6 on Amazon already: http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_ss?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=php+6&x=0&y=0

Anyone starting out on a project as ambitious as writing a book on development with an ever-changing technology has to write for the next rather than the current version, and as 1.3 and 1.4 are to be similar - I believe 1.3 is the right level to pitch this book at.

The principles & ambitions behind a new release of a technology are agreed long before the finer details & the book will be written with this in mind. Further, I'm sure there will be new editions once Symfony 1.3 is released updating any incorrect information in the book.

I am excited about the release of this book as it will be the first which isn't written by the core Symfony team and which is not basically just the documentation in printed form.

I think your concerns and skepticism is unfounded. I hope that this book will shape up to be all I expect it to be, but I will find out next week!

I look forward to reading all of your reviews!

He's missed a trick here,

If they're bold enough to guess the 1.3 functioanlty, they should have called it symfony 1.4 as they're going to be the same minus dependecies :-)

Same for me. I first deleted the email as it was looking as a typical spam mail, but after reading it was at least well written. I answered but no feedback since one week...
